People，persons, human beings 人们(集体名词)

1. There were a lot of people at the party.

有许多人参加了聚会。

2. Some elder people enjoy Beijing opera immensely.

有些上了年纪的人非常喜爱京剧。

3. Quite a few people came to the lecture.

有相当多的人来听讲。

all the persons who live in a particular place or belong to a particular country, race, etc 生活在某一国家或某一地区的人民;民族

1. The friendly exchanges between the Chinese and American peoples date back more than two hundred years.

中美两国人民的友好交往，已有二百多年历史。

2. There are fifty-six peoples in China.

中国有五十六个民族。

Person

a human as an individual 人(强调个人)

1. You’re just the person I want to see.

你正是我想要见的人。

2. What is she like as a person?

她的人品怎么样?

3. A selfish person always thinks about himself.

一个自私的人总是想着自己。

【注意】

1. people表示”人们”时，为集体名词，不能表示个人。people表示”民族”时，为可数名词，有单复数形式。

2. person是可数名词，强调个人，其复数形式为persons，不过人们习惯用people代替persons。
